Description:1948 Ford F1 Pickup Truck. This truck is really solid and although not perfect paint wise is does show very, very well. There are some paint scratches, so this is not a showroom truck. Undercarriage is very clean and rust free. The truck initially came with a six cylinder according to the vin#, but now has the 100hp flathead V8. The transmission is a manual three speed on the floor. It has the 12 volt system installed. Two newer water pumps installed. Seat is in good condition with no tears. I bought this truck in running condition but needing some work. So here is a list of what I've done since ownership. Fixed very tight steering due to the Kingpin retaining bolt installed incorrectly; installed speedometer with cable; fixed fuel gauge (it now works but needs another resistor to make it perfect;) fixed alternator gauge wiring; rerouted plug wires; tightened belt; added battery trickle charger harness; new air cleaner and housing; fixed choke cable; hooked up parking brake -- now working; fixed brake attachment with new cotter pin and washer; greased all zerk fittings on entire truck; checked all brake pads and wheel cylinders for leaks -- all good and some brand new; added brake fluid; changed oil in engine and transmission; new radiator fluid; adjusted steering box to its best capability; passenger side tie rod end replaced; added peep mirror; added glove box and ash tray - not present when purchased; tightened transmission mounting bolts; hooked up heater; installed two smaller brake lights on the back along with original rear light; new rear light lens; and, linseed oiled truck bed boards. This truck starts, runs good, shifts excellent, clutch is solid; but it does need some attention in certain areas.
Here is the list that I think could use a little more work: needs headliner and kick board panels; passenger door handle could use a spring or adjusting; temperature gauge does not work but I have a new one to be install -- it is a mechanical gauge; steering box may need more adjustment or a rebuild; steering wheel is a little ugly looking with the tape; a larger air cleaner would be nicer; it needs touch-up paint to match the red color; and, transmission fluid needs to be changed to a little thicker viscosity.
Again, this is a solid and real good looking 1948 Ford F1. A little more work and this truck would be awesome. Only reason I'm selling is that it is getting difficult for me to work on with some of my ailments due to my age. I love the truck and it would make another enthusiast pretty happy. My price is pretty firm, so please no low ballers!
